How to Place an Online Order
- Ordering from Things Engraved is easy! Use the top menu to browse our wide variety of gifts, or use our convenient search feature to find that special item you're looking for.
- When you've found a gift you like in the thumbnail view, click on the image to enlarge the image and bring up an individual page with information on that item. You can shop in CAD or USD funds by switching the currency converter in the top right corner of your desktop screen.
- If you're satisfied with the item and want to purchase it, simply click the "Personalize" and/or "Add To Cart".
- Next you will see the personalization form (if personalization is available for that gift). Here you will choose which text and where you want the text to be placed. The fields guide you through the process telling you how long your personalization can be (e.g. 8 characters) and which fonts are available.
- Once you have completed your personalization options click "Add to Shopping Cart."
- On a select number of gifts we have an "Advanced Personalizer," which we refer to as our "Design Studio" (view these gifts here). This type of personalization allows you to add "clip art" and text to your gift and lay it all out just how you want. Available clip art / designs can be searched and are charged per design you add. Details about your design and other options can be found on the "Advanced Options" pull out menu. The ability to COPY is found within this menu as well. Once you have designed your gift with all of it's designs and text, simply click on "Add to Cart."
- When viewing your shopping cart, you can view your total amount and proceed to the final checkout or you can continue to shop for other items.
- Your cart will keep track of items you've already added. You can view your shopping cart at any time by clicking on the shopping cart link at the top of every page. In your cart you can add Gift Wrap per item. You can also save your cart by creating an account using an email address or even using your Facebook account.
- When you're satisfied with your order (please carefully review what you've entered) and wish to finalize your purchase, click "Proceed to Checkout" at the bottom. This will take you to our secure server where you can follow the steps to fill out your billing and shipping addresses.
- All transactions on these pages are safe sites and encrypted for your security and privacy.
- After you've entered your information for your order, it will be processed and a confirmation email will be sent to your email with your purchase information, including your order number.
Things Engraved has many payment options available to suit you. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards. Please make sure that your billing information filled out in the form is correct and matches the address shown on your monthly billing statements. We also accept Pay Pal and Apple Pay.
Billing and identity information problems can delay the processing and shipment of your order. It is recommended that the billing and shipping addresses are the same to avoid complications. Unfortunately we do not accept other types of payment online, but should you wish, use our store locator to find your local Things Engraved store where our Unique Gift Experts can assist you.

What delivery method do you use?
We understand it is important that your items arrive in good hands and on time. This is why we use Canada Post. Great detail has been put into our system to ensure that the gifts you order will get to their destination no matter where that may be.
How long does shipping take?
Your shipping time will vary according to the method (ground / air), geographic location of the package destination and types of items ordered. Each product page gives you an idea how long it takes for your order to be prepared. Within your shopping cart we will give you the date your order will leave our warehouse, after personalization. During the check-out process, would add the duration of shipping time you choose to estimate when your parcel will arrive to you.
How much does shipping cost?
Free Shipping, to one Canadian address per order, may be offered when you spend a certain amount on the website before tax (eg. $75). This type of offer is subject to change at any time. When free shipping is given we will choose the cheapest delivery options given to us by Canada Post. If you need your order delivered more quickly, you can pay to upgrade your shippping, even when you qualify for free shipping. Otherwise, shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and will be included at the end of the transaction process. The costs are based on your postal code, items ordered, and type of shipping service selected. If shipping within Canada the appropriate taxes as per the Province being shipped to will apply. This will be calculated and shown during the "check-out" process and on your final invoice.
Will I get a tracking number for my shipment?
Yes, once your order ships out of our warehouse you will receive an email which includes your Canada Post tracking number. If you don't see this email, please check your junk mail or bulk mail folder. If you don't receive your receipt nor tracking information via email then you likely typed in your email address incorrectly. You can contact us to get a copy of your receipt and your shipping tracking number: email@example.com.
Do you include a receipt in the package when it's shipped? I don't want the gift recipient to see how much I've paid for their gift.
We do not include an itemized bill with costs in your shipped box. We do include a packing slip which lists the items shipped with the Home and Shipping address shown. There are no prices shown on the packing slip.
Can you wrap the gift before it's shipped?
Yes, once you have an item or items in your online shopping cart, you can add gift wrap for each item, at a cost. You also have the option of including a note card that we hand-write on your behalf. Gift wrap is ideal if you are sending the gift directly to the gift recipient's address. Note: In-store we offer a complete gift bag service for all purchases.
Can I pick-up my online order in a store lcoation?
Sorry but at this time, we do not offer an "order-online, pick-up in store" option. However, if you need your item sooner, we suggest you head to your nearest local store as they have a ability to engrave gifts within a short time frame for last minute gift giving.
What if I am not home when Canada Post attempts to deliver my package?
If you are not home and Canada Post cannot deliver your parcel to your community mail-box, Canada Post will leave you a post card which indicates the parcel pick-up location nearest to you. You will have 10-15 days to pick-up your parcel from the indicated depot before they return it to us. Generally, Canada Post sends a second notification after 10 days for unclaimed parcels. If you still don't pick up your parcel at the Canada Post outlet you package will be returned to us.
What if my package is returned to you?
When we are required to re-ship your package due to an address error on your part, or failure to pick-up your parcel from a Canada Post outlet, you will be required to pay for the re-shipment of your package. To avoid this delay and cost, please ensure you give us the complete shipping address, including any apartment or units number for your house, during the checkout process. It is generally recommended to ship your parcel to a HOUSE/HOME address (vs. a business address).
What about international shipping outside of Canada?
No free shipping is offered outside of Canada. When shipping to the United States any taxes, tariffs, duty or brokerage fees will be the responsibility of the recipient and will be handled independently of thingsengraved.ca.
Personalization is a way to make your gift unique and special, creating a meaningful sentiment that will be associated to you forever! Personalization allows you to enhance a gift by adding a name, date, occasion, or any other special message that you desire. These messages are personalized through either engraving or embroidery. You will be prompted to personalize any gifts that have the option to be personalized.
How to Order a Personalized Item
Choose a gift that you would like to be personalized and providing it is able to be personalized you will see the "Place Your Order" button on that gift's individual information page. This takes you to the personalization page where you can create a custom message of your own.
We offer custom personalization on most gifts, which allows you to create your own personal message (space permitting). Our personalization experts have made it easy for you by determining where you can personalize on the item, as well as how many characters and how many lines of personalization will fit on each gift.
Important note: when entering text, if your computer stops accepting characters when entering text into a space provided, you have reached the maximum space allowed for personalization on that specific gift.
Please allow 3 business days for us to personalize and process your order (excluding the day your order is placed). You will be contacted if we are unable to meet this timeline.

It is very important that you review your personalization for accuracy as we are not responsible for being provided with incorrect information. You will have the option to review your entire order including personalization in your "Shopping Cart" before clicking the "Pay Now" button. Additional Costs For Personalization
You can custom engrave your own special message for just $1.00 a character ($1.25 for glass engraving), with a minimum charge of $5. (Punctuation marks are counted as characters) Here is an example of custom personalization pricing:

We offer a selection of pre-set designs for many occasions. Much of our embroidery assortment includes the cost of one embroidery design in the base price. However, for some items (such as Christmas stockings) a fee is charged if you wish to add embroidery. Personalization prices on items vary; please select an item for specific pricing.
Types of Fonts and Sizes
Our Personalization Experts have selected a range of fonts to personalize your purchase. These are the most popular fonts because of their elegant styling and ability to stand out and compliment your gift. As experts, our personalization technicians have selected the most appropriate font style and size for the item and personalization you have chosen.
Designs & Logos
We have a wide range of designs (like hearts and other symbols) that you can add to your personalized engraving at our stores. Please find a location near you to browse our designs catalogue. Custom logos can be engraved on many items and we invite you to please email your logo to firstname.lastname@example.org in a vector file format (EPS or AI) to obtain pricing.
What is a vector file? Vector graphics are unlike raster graphics such as JPEGs, PNGs or GIFs, which use pixels to define areas of image information. By using lines and shapes to define the image, vector graphics allow more flexible manipulation of the image file. Vector graphics appear smooth at the edges no matter how they are sized, whereas raster graphics appear jagged, or pixilated, when up-scaled. Vector files are usually created in dedicated vector graphics editing programs, such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. If you don't have a vector file we suggest asking your graphic designer or printing company for your logo in an EPS or AI file format.

Once you place an online order we will email you with the progress of your order. You will receive an order confirmation email (receipt) immediately upon ordering. Cancelling An Order
Once completed and placed, your personalized order is immediately sent into production so that we may offer you expedient service. Understandably, cancellations or changes to personalized orders cannot be accepted once you have completed and placed your online order. Completion of your online order confirms and acknowledges that you have reviewed and verified the accuracy of your entire order before it was submitted.
We reserve the right to cancel orders, without notice, if we suspect the transaction was fraudulant. When we cancel a suspicous order, the credit card used to complete the transaction is credited fully. We also reserve the right to cancel your order at our discretion should the order be deemed inappropriate for language, content or material. It is against our company policy to engrave profanity.
